What is Statis Dermatitis?
Stasis dermatitis is a chronic problem and commonly relapses. It presents as a red rash with yellowish or light brown pigmentation of the lower third of the leg.
This rash is associated with swelling, engorged and dilated veins with or without ulceration. Stasis dermatitis is a skin marker for venous insufficiency. It is common to complain of heaviness or aching in the leg that is aggravated by prolonged standing or walking. Legs can be very swollen by the end of the day. Itching can be associated with this condition.
