What is Perioral Dermatitis?
Perioral dermatitis presents with small red bumps and mild peeling that can occur around the mouth, nose, and eyes (less commonly). This condition can be somewhat itchy or cause a burning sensation.
The routine use of certain cosmetics, moisturizers and fluorinated products may be a cause or potentially exacerbate this condition. Hormones, sunlight and stress may aggravate the situation. The cause of this condition is not fully understood. The eruption can persist for months and relapses are common.
