I have been seeing Ms. Berka since she started At PSL. Her professional yet friendly manner makes you feel comfortable. I have a transplant and the medications I take cause cancer spots to come up very often. Having a place like PSL where all the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable is very important. When I go so often I feel like its a second home. Ms.Berka treats me as such also....she makes it personal and remembers what is going on with you outside of your skin cancer situation. I find this highly valuable due to the overwhelming amount of patients she has. For her to be able to remember the other health issues about each patient and to take the time to see all of it is going on and give an uplifting word, say she is sorry for having to cause you more pain :). Although the circumstance in which she has to see you is not good, she always seems happy to see you and always glad to help in anyway and lets you know she will be there anytime you need her. Its hard to find a doctor who cares and with her, you know she really means it. I would recommend anyone who needs a Dermatologist to try PSL and ask for Ms. Berka. You will not be disappointed!!

I have been a patient of Dr. White for about three years. I find him very knowledgeable and professional. I just had a skin cancer removed by surgery. He personally followed-up the surgery and gave me assurance that if I had any complications, he would only be a phone call away. I did have a question after a few days and he saw me in his office to check out the problem. After seeing me he found that the incision was looking great. I appreciated his willingness to make me feel better.

Growing up near the ocean, tanning was a way of life. This was during the 60s – when the only things that mattered on the beach were dating the cutest lifeguards and, of course, having a perfect tan. My Scandinavian/Irish descent put me at a disadvantage – pale skin and freckles didn’t quite measure up to the olive-skinned complexion of my Italian /American buddies. But every year I tried my best. In my defense, no one ever told me that basking in that glorious sunshine could possibly be harmful to my health. As an adult, my free time was severely limited. I would have to adapt if I was going to be ready to put on shorts or a bathing suit by Memorial Day. Tanning salons offered the perfect solution. In the back of my mind I knew that my behavior would catch up to me sooner or later. It finally happened in my mid-fifties, when I could no longer ignore a stubborn growth on my thigh. Happily, I had the incredible good fortune to be referred to Dr. White at Palmetto Skin and Laser Center for treatment.
My relationship with PSL began on the day of my first appointment, and the results have changed my life. Dr. White told me, in no uncertain terms, that my tanning days were over. Something about his manner – professional and concerned – or maybe his sense of humor, convinced me to actually listen. But I sold my tanning bed on Craig’s list the next week, and have been a sunscreen advocate ever since. I have cancer screenings twice every year, and the number of pre-cancerous spots that Dr. White needs to freeze has consistently dropped. I’ve also had two minor surgical procedures to remove cancerous growths.
But the truly amazing part was still to come. The sun had taken a major toll on my skin over a long period of time. The rough texture and lines added years to my face. I never dreamed that this damage could be reversed to any noticeable degree. Dr. White and Hannah Dantzler, the incredible aesthetician at Palmetto Breeze Med Spa, opened their bag of tricks - treatments, procedures, and products designed to improve sun-damaged skin and reduce lines and wrinkles. I’ve had two TCA peels, with impressive results! I now follow a regimen of skin care using Skinceutical products and, most important of all, sunscreen!
I can’t say enough good things about Dr. White. He’s a brilliant dermatologist and an expert in all the latest and greatest developments in the field. He’s also a warm, funny, and upbeat guy. He clearly loves his profession and enjoys sharing his wealth of knowledge with his patients. When someone is passionate about their work they generate a powerful and contagious positive energy. Dr. White projects that enthusiasm. In fact, the entire PSL team is wonderful – efficient, professional, friendly, and committed to being the best in their field. Equally important, they value their patients and treat them with care and respect. I’ve never been kept waiting more than a few minutes for an appointment.
Palmetto Breeze, the med spa, is a world apart. The facility itself is calming and attractive. Hannah is just short of a miracle-worker. She has the expertise to provide information and make recommendations regarding all types of spa treatments and products. She and her team have the skills needed to provide a wide and varied menu of services. Eventually I’d love to try every one of them!!
Recently I “celebrated” (for lack of a better word) my sixtieth birthday, which I’d been dreading for a year. That afternoon I had an appointment at Palmetto Breeze for a Microdermabrasion treatment. Afterward my skin felt softer and looked healthier than ever. That evening at dinner I noticed that my husband was staring at my face. After a while he commented that my skin looked beautiful – and I had never mentioned the treatment to him! Of course it might just have been the dim light, or maybe the birthday champagne… but I really believe that the credit for that special compliment goes to Dr. White and his outstanding team at PSL. Thanks so much!!!

I had a serious, complicated medical issue that involved more than just my skin. My primary care physician sent me to a rhuematologist who sent me to a endocrinologist who sent me to Dr. White. And Dr. White is who solved my mystery! In my family, we call him Dr. House (with a better bedside manner)! He spent well over 30 minutes with me (which I know made him late with his other patients) but he made sure he heard and understood everything. He, apparently, conducts clinical trials and is a big whig in SC and in the nation so he obviously knows his stuff. Thank you Dr. White! I have answers because of you!

As a family we go to Dr. White for several years now for skin cancer prevention. Dr. White bedside manners are very good and he is very knowledgeable. He workd very thoroughly and detailed and does not leave anything by chance. One time I had a terrible rash that started in one elbow and increased quickly. He found the cause and the right medicine - and after a couple of days everything was finde again. It never came back!
I can highly recommend Dr. White.

Kristin Berka has been a wonderful addition to this practice. She sees my husband and myself regularly to keep check on skin cancers. She has a very pleasant, gentle manner, and makes you comfortable when you are being treated. I would highly recommend both her and this practice.
